North East On-Line Company On Course For Growth…
A North East company, which is now recognised as the UK’s leading on-line seller of hair extensions, has announced plans for expansion.
Seaham-based X-Tensions has seen massive growth through its www.buyhair.co.uk website which sells hair extensions and related products to both the trade and the public.
And now the company is looking to grow, with plans to employ a host of extra developers to fulfil its aim to create nine new on-line shops in the next three years.
The rapid expansion of the business also means X-Tensions has outgrown its current location and is currently in negotiation to move from its 2700 sq ft unit to one almost triple the size.
The plan to relocate to a 7000 sq ft warehouse also gives the company the flexibility to open a trade counter, allowing customers to collect hair extensions in person.
The extra jobs will include one new developer initially, but the owners are also now looking for other web designers who can become part of the X-Tensions team.
Set up by real-life partners Darren Williams and Angela Place, the company has developed a national and international reputation as a “one stop shop” for supplying hair extensions –both pre-bonded for the professional market and clip-in for the general public.
“We have seen fantastic growth of the company as people realise that they can order all their hair extensions from one place,” said Darren, who was recently announced the Wearside winner of the If We Can You Can challenge for aspiring entrepreneurs.
“We have some really exciting plans for the future so that we can reach our ultimate aim of being the Amazon of the hair and beauty world and hopefully create hundreds of job opportunities in the long term.”
From its base at Seaham Grange Industrial Estate X-Tensions supplies customers across the country and is currently in negotiation with a worldwide brand to create a new range of extensions.
The aim is to move to the bigger premises in the autumn, allowing the company to open its trade counter in time for Christmas.
“It’s a very exciting time for us,” said Darren.
“And we hope to have some more amazing announcements to make in the near future.”
